Youth abducted by dacoits from UP rescued in Raj

A 23-year-old youth, who was allegedly abducted by dacoits from Agra, was today rescued by Dholpur police in Rajasthan's Nadanpura area.

The victim, Devendra, was abducted by Kedar Gujjar and his gang members from Uttar Pradesh's Agra district eight days back, and demanded a ransom of Rs three lakh from his family members, police said.

"Following a tip off about their hideout, a raid was conducted in forest areas in Nadanpura area, followed by exchange of firing between the gang and the police personnel," SP Dholpur Rajesh Singh said.

The police team rescued the youth, but the accused managed to escape, he said.
 

His family members have been informed about his recovery, Singh added.
