Youth arrested; 545 SIM cards, computer seized

The Ghaziabad police today arrested a youth and recovered 540 mobile SIM cards procured illegally, one laptop, two LEDs and 25 modems from him.

The youth, identified as Chirag Sapra, a resident of Delhi's Mukherji Nagar, was arrested from a rented apartment in Radhey Shayam Colony of Murad Nagar here, during a search operation launched to verify the antecedents and addresses of tenants living in the town, SHO Subodh Saxena said.

When policemen knocked at the door of the house from where Chirag was arrested, a man opened the door and seeing the police fled from the spot.

Police entered the house and saw Chirag working on computer. Upon interrogation, he said the man who fled after opening the door was his father, who was running an advertising firm.
 

During search police recovered 515 SIM cards of BSNL and 25 of Airtel procured without customer application forms, one laptop, two LEDs, two CPU, two key boards and 25 modems.

Chirag said all the SIM cards were procured by his father and he used to send SMS on behalf of real estate companies.

Police have arrested Chirag under IPC Section 420 (offences relating to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).

A manhunt has been launched to nab his father Rajiv Sapra, the SHO said.
