Youth arrested for theft and loot of money from ATMs

The police today arrested a youth wanted in theft and loot of money from about 40 ATMs while the accused was watching film at a cinema hall in Saheed Nagar area of the state capital.

The youth identified as Sambhav Acharya, was wanted in about 40 cases of theft and loot from ATMs. The police was tracking the suspected youths mobile number and finally zero in on him at a cinema hall here, said DCP Satyabrat Bhoi.

The DCP said he was nabbed during interval break of the movie when the latter had come out to buy some snacks. The cops also seized some cash and ATM cards from his possession, Bhoi said.
 

On his modus operandi, police said he used to make ATM machines defunct. When customers would come and try to withdraw money, he would watch their pin numbers and later withdraw from ATMs.

Police said besides in the state capital, cases were pending against the youth in different police stations.
