A young man has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing a girl and uploading her pictures on Facebook in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi.

The cyber crime circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested the accused days after another person was sentenced for three-year for a similar crime.

FIA officials said that accused Naveed Ahmed was arrested after one Muhammad Iqbal told police that some unknown person uploaded his daughter's picture on a fake Facebook ID with the username 'Junaid Junaid', The Express Tribune reported.

He also said the user wrote abusive remarks using the account. FIA moved into action and arrested the accused and recovered pictures and internet devices from his possession and lodged FIR under cyber crime laws and Pakistan Penal Code.

The officials said the user also wrote the complainant's mobile number in the contact sections on the fake account due to which he is receiving calls from different unknown people.

Iqbal said the account had dishonoured him and his family among his friends and relatives, forcing him to leave the city.
