beaten to death in a quarrel over collection of drinking water at Shibpur in Howrah city today.
The police said Sirajudding Mallik (19) was beaten to death at Kazipara Mollapara Lane when he went to take drinking water from a water tank of Howrah Municipal Corporation.
He was beaten during a scuffle over who would take water first from a gathering of people, sources said.
Several pockets of Howrah city has been facing acute water crisis this summer.
