Youth booked for duping e-commerce portal

A youth here has been booked for allegedly cheating a leading e-commerce portal, after it accused him of returning the goods by removing hardware parts of the equipments.

Raghuveera Reddy, aged around 25, working with a computer hardware service shop, used to book orders for electronic goods and later return the same stating they were not working after removing hardware parts or chips and by replacing them with duplicate ones, Vanasthalipuram police said.

"As per the complaint filled by the company, Reddy used to place orders on different names of his family members and give different phone numbers and also different addresses for the online purchase transactions over the past two years," Vanasthalipuram Police Station Inspector B Pushpan Kumar said.
 

However, once the goods were delivered, Reddy used to remove chips or other equipments from the goods and returned the products within days under the "Return Policy", he said.

"The complaint says that they have incurred losses between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh due his acts. We are verifying the matter. No one has been questioned so far...Further investigations are underway," police said.
