Ahead of Amit Shah's scheduled visit to Odisha on July 1, Odisha Youth Congress today announced to oppose the BJP president's one-day tour to the state.

However, the Youth Congress's plan to oppose Shah's visit did not get support from the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik.

While expressing his ignorance on the Youth Congress's agitation plan, Patnaik said: Its the duty of the president of a national party to campaign for his party. Why should we oppose? I am unaware about who took the decision.

Earlier, the Youth Congress activists led by their president Lokanath Maharathy burnt banners of Amit Shah at Master Canteen Square and announced before mediapersons plans to oppose his visit.

Amit Shah has been playing with the emotions of the people of Odisha. We demand resolution of the Mahanadi issue at the earliest. Besides, he has not kept his promise of providing jobs to two crore youths and bringing back black money to the country, Maharathy said.

Senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi, however, said: If Congress opposes Amit Shahs visit, we should be happy. What Congress says doesnt matter to us.

BJD spokesman P K Deb, however, said: "Let Shah visit Odisha. He has visisted the state many times earlier. It has no impact on the people of Odisha."

BJP sources said that Shah during his one day visit to the state will discuss political situation in the state particularly in view of rising stock of the Congress after Niranjan Patnaik took over as OPCC president.

He will meet the leaders from at least three Lok Sabha segments of Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar during the visit, sources said.
