Activists of Youth Congress today clashed with police as they held protest demonstration against the unprovoked ceasefire violation from Pakistan along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC).

The activists, who organised a "Yuva Garjana Rally" here against the unprovoked firing across the IB and LoC, were carrying banners and posters while chanting slogans against Pakistan.

They also burnt the effigy of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

"At Tawi Bridge here Youth activists were intercepted by police and resorted to cane charging in which several youths were injured," said a statement issued by the Youth congress.

However, the police has refuted the allegation that police resorted to cane charge.

"There was no cane charging, however, as the activists tried to block the main Tawi Brigde, the police has to push them to clear the road," SSP, Jammu, Uttam Chand told PTI.
