A 21-year-old youth was killed when a car he was driving rammed into a divider and collided with a truck coming from opposite side in Buddha Garden area here in the wee hours today, police said.
Sachin, a resident of New Moti Nagar died in the incident which occurred at around 2.45 AM, they said, adding locals who rushed to the spot informed the police.
"He lost control near gate number two of Buddha garden and the car collided head-on with the truck," police said.
Police have detained Dhammi Lal, the 50-year-old truck driver, for questioning and a case has been registered at the Chanakyapuri police station.
"Preliminary investigation suggests that Sachin was driving the car at high speed. We are also suspecting that he might have been driving under the influence of alcohol. However, we are waiting for an autopsy report which may throw more light into the case," said a police official.
