Youth drowns during Navratri immersion

A youth was killed and two others suspected to have drowned today in river Narmada while immersing goddess Durga idol after the end of nine-day-long Navratri festival at village Jhirvi under Dharampuri police station area here, police said.

The body of Rahul (21) was fished out by divers while efforts are on to trace Manoj (25) and Bhupendra (22) as both of them also fell into the river, Dharampuri Police Station In-charge, K S Sahu said.

They had gone along with other villagers for the immersion of goddess Durga idol and during the ritual they ventured into deep waters following which all three were caught in heavy currents and swept away.
 

Efforts are on locate the 'missing' duo, Sahu added.
