A 24-year-old man, who was working as helper in power distribution company Southco through an outsourcing agency, was electrocuted while working on an electricity line near here in Odisha's Ganjam district today, police said.
The mishap took place when the deceased, identified as Sushant Jena of Tikarpada, was repairing a 33-KV line near Kukudakahndi, about 15-km from here.
The villagers along with several workers staged demonstration in front of the corporate office of the Southco, and demanded compensation for the victim's family, police said.
They lifted the dharna after Chief Operating Officer, Southco KB Padhy assured them that compensation would be provided after inquiry.
