The two were traced and held in Bhilwara district a few hours after they eloped last night, they said.
"Salim was in contact with the girl, a class XII student, for the last two-three years despite her parents objection. Last night around 9 PM, he called the girl outside her house and enticed her to run away with him," SHO Kotwali, Kota, Haricharan Meena, said.
The 23-year-old youth, who works as a property dealer, allegedly "hit and kicked" the girl's mother when she tried to stop them from fleeing on a motorcycle.
Her family then informed the police after which "a two member team was dispatched to Bhilwara immediately where they (the couple) were held at the house of the boy's uncle in Bijolia area of Bhilwara at around 4 am today."
