A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping into an open well at Firozeshah Kotla Fort in central Delhi here this afternoon, police said.
The incident took place at around 3 PM when some passersby saw an unidentified youth climbing up the wall of a well and jumping into it.
"Somebody who saw him jumping in the well informed the security men of the guard following which police was informed. A team from I P Estate police station rushed to the spot," a police official said.
The body has been fished out and sent to LNJP hospital for post mortem, police said, adding no suicide note was recovered from the victim.
Efforts are on to establish his identity, they said.
