Youth fires at constable as police tries to arrest him

A Head Constable suffered bullet injuries in west Delhi when a youth, allegedly involved in several criminal cases, opened fire at a police party which went to arrest him.

The incident took place in Uttam Nagar last night and the youth identified as Arvind Sharma (25), a proclaimed offender, was apprehended from the spot, Ravindra Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), said today.

Police had information that Sharma, who was evading, arrested would come to Nangli Jalib village in a car and when he arrived around 9:15 PM, the cops asked him to surrender.

"Sharma locked himself inside the car rammed his car into the vehicle of the crime branch personnel. As the vehicles of the raiding team were strategically positioned, occupant of the car got trapped from all sides. He whipped out a pistol and fired at Head Constable Shyam LalLal," Yadav said.
 

The bullet pierced through the left palm of the Head Constable and he was rushed to a hospital.

Sharma is allegedly involved in as many as seven cases of murder, attempt to murder and hurt. He has also worked as a gym instructor.
