Youth gets 10-yrs jail for kidnapping & raping minor

A fast track court here today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to a 24-year-old priest who allegedly kidnapped and raped a minor girl in Uttar Pradesh.

The sentence was awarded to Pankaj Sharma by the fast track court's presiding officer and Additional Session Judge, Savita Singh, under sections 363 (abduction), 366 (abducting a girl for forcibly establishing physical relations) and 376 (rape). The court also slapped a fine of Rs 3,500 on him.

Sharma, a resident of Banganga, was found guilty of kidnapping and raping the 16-year-old girl who was his tenant's daughter, Additional Public Prosecutor Ravindra Desai told reporters.
 

Sharma had abducted her on December 9, 2013 and taken her to Mathura and Vrindavan via Ujjain where he raped her in hotels.

Police reached Sharma on the basis of his mobile phone call details and later rescued the minor girl.
