A local court today sentenced a youth to seven years' rigorous imprisonment after convicting him of raping a minor girl in Kandhamal district.
Special court judge Anand Narayan Moharana also imposed a penalty of Rs 30,000 on the convict Prakash Digal.
According to the prosecution, Digal had gone to the house of the victim when she was alone, took her to his house and raped her on April 14, 2007.
The police arrested Digal and his parents after the victim's father lodged an FIR.
The parents, who were arrested on charge of conspiracy, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
