Youth going to buy Rakhi knocked down by DTC bus

A 27-year old man was mowed down by a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in North Delhi's Sabzi Mandi area when he was on his way to buy Rakhi gift for his sister, police said today.

According to the police, Ankit was riding his motorcycle towards Roshanara Road market when a low-floor DTC bus which plies on route number 133 hit him from behind.

Ankit was thrown on the road and sustained grievous injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The incident took place at around 11:00 PM last night.

"He had gone to buy a gift for his sister for Raksha Bandhan when the incident took place. Ankit works for a mobile company," said a police official.
 

Police arrested the bus driver and a case of rash and negligent driving causing death was registered at Sabzi Mandi police station.
