In a swift action by police, a

21-year-old youth, who allegedly killed wife of the owner of a tea shop were he was working, was nabbed within 12 hours, police said today.

Vicki alias Vigneswaran working in a tea shop at Ambattur was demanding money from Michaelraj, the shopowner, to go to his hometown Ramanathapuram for the forthcoming festive season, a police release said.

Since Michaelraj denied, Vicki last night went to Michaelraj's house and allegedly killed his wife Arockiya Vanitha and attacked the couple's two-year-old son and five year-old daughter.

While Vanitha died on the spot, the children sustained serious injuries were admitted in a hospital.
 

A special polcie team later picked him at Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, Koyambedu while he was trying to escape. During interrogation, Vicki confessed to the crime, the release said.
