A 25-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a minor girl here, police said today.
The incident took place when the 7-year-old girl had gone to attend a marriage ceremony along with her parents at a farm house last night, SHO Haridayal Singh Yadav said.
The girl had gone to the washroom and in the meanwhile one Ashish who was in an inebriated condition barged inside and caught hold of her, he said.
When the girl raised an alarm, other bystanders rushed inside the washroom and thrashed the youth.
The victim's father then informed the Police Control Room following which the Indirapuram Police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused, the SHO said.
The girl has been sent to government hospital for medical examination, he said, adding that an FIR has been registered under relevant section of IPC and POCSO Act, he said.
