Youth held for double rape bid on minor

A 21-year-old youth was today arrested today for allegedly trying to rape an eight-year-old girl twice last week in central Delhi's Nabi Karim area.

Mohammad Asghar, who works in a a bag-making company, lived close to the girl's house in a rented accomodation and used to play with her regularly. Yesterday, when she was alone, he lured her to an isolated place and tried to rape her. However, the girl started shouting and he fled the spot, a police official said.

The class 2 girl then narrated the incident to her parents who approached the police and lodged a complaint.
 

During filing of the case, the girl revealed that Asghar had attempted to rape her on the night of April 7 also but his attempt was thwarted when some people passed through the area.

Asghar was arrested by the police here this morning, the official said, adding that police was trying to ascertain whether he made similar attempts on other kids in the area.
