An 18-year-old youth was arrested today for allegedly murdering a driver and a cleaner of trucks and looting their lorry laden with iron rods, police said.

Rahul, a truck cleaner, has been apprehended. But, the prime accused of the double murder Sunil (34), a lorry driver is absconding, Kisanganj Police Station Inspector Rakesh Modi said.

Sunil and Rahul allegedly killed driver Nagesh (32) and cleaner Vinod (35) with sharp-edged weapons when they were asleep in a stationary truck at a deserted place on Rau-Pigdambar road last night, he said.

The duo kept the bodies inside the truck and tried to flee from the spot. However, the police personnel who were carrying out a check near a toll bridge intercepted the truck driven by the accused and asked for papers, Modi said.

Sunil after parking the truck escaped following which police nabbed Rahul and found the bodies inside the vehicle, he added.

The officer said the accused had plans to dispose of the bodies en route and escape with the truck laden with iron rods.

The truck was carrying iron rods consignment to Rajgarh district from Pithampur industrial area in adjoining Dhar district.

A case under relevant sections of IPC is registered against the duo and investigations are on, Modi added.
