A 22-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly murdering a person who had eve-teased a girl with whom he was in love, police today said.

Ganesh was arrested for allegedly murdering Ravi, police said, adding that both were residents of Haiderpur in north-west Delhi.

According to police, Ravi used to eve-tease a girl with whom Ganesh was romantically involved. The Haiderpur neighbours had got into an altercation about six months back over the issue but the matter was resolved.

However, according to police, Ganesh was harbouring a grudge against Ravi and yesterday called him near a tubewell in Haiderpur where an argument ensued between them.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west Delhi) Vijay Singh said it was during their heated exchange that Ganesh allegedly struck the victim with a wooden stick on his head several times before fleeing the spot.

The victim's father, who claimed to have seen Ganesh assaulting his son, called police and Ravi was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Initially, an attempt to murder case was registered in this connection at Shalimar Bagh police station, but a murder charge has now been slapped on the accused.
