A youth, who allegedly used to cheat people on the pretext of helping them in ATM transactions, has been arrested after he 'targeted' a CISF constable deployed at Shastri Park metro station here, police said today.
The accused, identified as Shaadab (22), allegedly used to tamper with keys of ATM machines, which disrupted services, and then offer help to users of those machines, they said.
Once the PIN and amount desired to be withdrawn were entered, he used to convince the users that the ATM was out of cash and direct them towards other ATM kiosks nearby, police said.

Once they were gone, Shaadab used to take out cash (the amount desired to be withdrawn by the user) by releasing the buttons he had earlier tampered with, said DCP (Metro) Jitendra Mani.
The CISF constable suspected his conduct and started calling him from behind, following which Shaadab started to run away. The constable then raised an alarm and overpowered him with the help of people present nearby, Mani said.
The police also recovered Rs 10,000 from Shaadab's possession, the amount which the constable was to withdraw. The accused has been booked for cheating and theft, he added.
