A 23-year-old accountant working in Malaysia was arrested for allegedly stealing laptop and mobile phones from his friend's house here, police said today.
Saurabh Mitra, who hails from West Bengal's Nadia, was arrested from his hometown following investigations into a case of theft, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma said.
He had come from Malaysia on March 4 and was staying at his friend's house in Vasant Kunj.
"On March 12, in the absence of his friend, he stole valuable articles of his friend and escaped to his native village," Sharma said.
A stolen laptop and two mobile phones were allegedly recovered him.
