Police arrested Ankur on Saturday for his involvement in the burglary at the residence of Subash Tomar in Mahipalpur in South Delhi on November 24.
Gold jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh, a licensed pistol with 25 live cartridges and a Dell laptop were among the things which were found missing when Tomar and his family returned home from the marriage, the complaint said.
During investigation, police found that Tomar's nephew had an affair with his cousin sister and when both of them eloped the complainant played an instrumental role in tracing him.
Police considered this as a vital piece of information and started looking for Ankur who had developed grudge against his uncle after the bitter episode.
Ankur was absconding for a while and that is when police received a secret information that he would come to Munirka to meet one of his friends.
"He was arrested. Initially, he denied of committing the theft but on sustained interrogation, he broke down and admitted to have committed the theft at the house of his maternal uncle," a senior police official said.
"Ankur said he fell in love with his cousin sister. He wanted to marry with her and they both had left their houses in August and Tomar helped in finding them. After this incident, he wanted to take revenge with his maternal uncle Tomar and was waiting for a chance to avenge him.
