Youth injures RPF constable, attempts to decamp with his rifle

A Railway Protection Force constable was injured today when a youth tried to snatch his rifle after attacking him with sharp-edged weapon at Wanpoh station in south Kashmir, police said.

Tariq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Redwani in Kulgam district had sprinkled chilli powder into Tinku Khushwaha's eyes before attacking him on his head with a sharp-edged weapon.

He snatched the policeman's INSAS service rifle but was caught by other security personnel before he could escape, a police official said.

The injured cop has been shifted to district hospital Anantnag for treatment, he added.
