But, 24-year-old Abhishek Deep fell in the police trap within 16 hours after he locked up the girl at a hotel in Pahar Ganj in the capital while lying to her father that they were in Bangalore.
Ashwani Kumar, the victim's father, complained to Delhi Police that his daughter was abducted and that he got a phone call from Bangalore last night that she had been kidnapped.
During investigation, police came to know that the girl was a student of a college in Delhi and she came in contact with Deep, who hails from Chhattisgarh, and they subsequently became good friends.
Yesterday, Deep had asked her to meet him at Shastri Nagar Metro Station and when they reached Connaught Place he took her mobile phone and made a ransom call to her father.
He then switched off her mobile phone and threatened to kill her father if she did not obey his instruction. "The victim accompanied the accused to Hotel Ashoka, Pahar Ganj, Delhi, where the accused forced her to book a room in her name," Sindhu Pillai, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North District, said.
After 16 hours, police apprehended Deep from the hotel and he revealed that he was in dire need of money and made a plan to kidnap his friend.
