A person was killed at Kamarhati in North 24 Pargana district today when a stray bullet fired from the firearm of one of his friends hit him.
Barrackpore police commissioner Niraj Singh said the incident took place when bullet from the firearm of one Maehtab Alam hit Asgar Ali, 23, killing him on the spot.
Ali and three of his friends had assembled at Chayee Maidan in Kamarhati area.
It was yet to be established whether the bullet went off accidentally.
Mehtab Alam fled from the spot.
An investigation was on.
