Youth killed in road mishap, locals set ablaze vehicles

A youth died after a dumper hit his motorcycle, triggering protests by locals who set ablaze five vehicles and damaged a shop in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district today, police said.

The incident took place at Shambhupura area when the dumper carrying clay hit the bike of 25-year-old Indu, they said.

Following the incident, locals set ablaze two dumpers, belonging to a mine owner. In retaliation, mine workers burnt three two-wheelers and damaged a shop, police said.

Someone from the mob also opened fire but none was injured, Chittorgarh SP Raghvendra Suhasa claimed.

Twelve people have been detained so far in this connection, he said.
