A youth allegedly strangled his mother after an altercation broke out between the two, in New Vikas Nagar colony here, police said today.
"After some argument, the accused, Satish Naik, allegedly killed his mother and sat near her body for over four hours," Assistant SP Kunvar Anupam Singh said.
He initially reported the matter to his father, who was in Cuttack to attend a marriage function, and then surrendered to the police.
According to the police, the youth worked in a hotel but was unemployed for the last couple of months which led to an altercation between the two following which he killed his mother.
