Volunteers of various youth outfits today staged a human chain agitation here supporting "Jallikattu" on the ground that the sport was part of the time-honoured tradition of the Tamils and should never be banned on any account.
The volunteers of outfits, coming under the banner of 'Puducherry Youth Organisation,' came in a procession from near India Gandhi square to the beach road, in support of the bull-taming sport.
The agitators condemned the ban on Jallikattu and raised slogans against the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for their negative stand on the sport.

They said, "Jallikattu should never be banned as it is a traditional highlight of the Tamils."
Police were deployed in strength along the beach road during the agitation.
