Youth run over by speeding truck, students hold protest

A bike-borne youth was today run over by a speeding truck in Siwaya area on Delhi-Haridwar highway, leading to protests by students who blocked the road and damaged buses, police said.

According to Daural police, the incident took place this morning when the victim, identified as Keshav Singh, was killed after a truck coming from Muzaffarnagar ran over him outside Bhagwati College in Siwaya area.

The victim was a resident of Modipuram.

Students in the area protested and pelted stones, damaging buses and other vehicles plying on the route. They also caught hold of the truck driver and handed him over to the police.
 

Police appealed to the agitating students to stop their protest to allow smooth traffic flow on the route.

The accused driver was arrested and the truck seized, they said.
