GRP sources today said the body of the 20-year-old Bengal Institute of Technology student was found yesterday late evening.

Supdip Malo and his two friends had gone for Durga Puja shopping to Durgapur and were on their way back to Burdwan by down Toofan Express when the three got into a heated exchange with the traffickers for keeping bags full of stolen coal near the doors.

As per the statements given to the police by his friends during the day Malo was beaten up by the traffickers inside the moving train and threatened he would be thrown out, the two said in their statements.

The youth tried to lodge his complaint with the train's security personnel but could not find any of them. He then sat in another compartment and kept in touch with his friends over his mobile phone.

However, when the youths disembarked at Burdwan they could not find Malo there nor at the bus stand from where they had agreed to to take a bus to Katwa.

They later received a call from a GRP officer from Sudip's phone that his body was found near Khana, the statements said.

The youth's elder brother Subroto has alleged that he was thrown out of the running train by the traffickers.

GRP OC P Saha said it is believed to be an accident as electric and signal posts are near the railway line in the area.

A case of unnatural death was registered.
