Youth's strangulated body found

A 20-year-old youth was

strangulated to death by unknown assailants and his body was recovered from the fields of Khanpur village near here, police said today.

Nitin Kumar, a student in a Meerut college, had left home on Friday to participate in NCC college camp in Delhi, Station Officer (SO) Vindhyachal Tiwari said.

When the victim, a resident of Krishna Vihar colony, did not return home the next day, the family members registered a missing report with the police, he added.

Police also discovered the victim's belongings scattered on the road on Saturday in the village.

Kumar's body was discovered yesterday in a semi-naked state covered with leaves and a noose of belt around his neck, he said.
 

The family have raised suspicion on two people of the village, with no such report lodged. The purpose behind the murder is still unclear, he added.

The body has been sent for post-mortem. Efforts are on to nab the culprits, he said.
