Youth sentenced to 10 yrs jail for raping minor girl

A local court has sentenced a 23-year-old youth from Bhayander township here to 10 yers rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in 2012.

Additional Sessions Judge S C Khalipe, in her order delivered yesterday, found Abdul Hamid Hamidullah Shaikh guilty of raping a nine-year-old girl and awarded him 10 years jail and also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000.

Additional Public Prosecutor Vandana Jadhav told the court that the victim and the accused were neighbours. On November 6, 2012, the accused wooed the girl by some means and took her to his house and then committed the crime.

After returning home, the victim confided in her mother and narrated about the incident. The parents later lodged a complaint and the accused was subsequently arrested.
 

The prosecutor also told the judge that the victim had a bite mark on her chest which confirmed that the accused had also tortured her before raping.
