A youth was allegedly lynched by a mob after he shot dead a girl and her sister during her marriage ceremony here, police said today.
25-year-old Aditya Nagar opened fire at the marriage ceremony of Vandana (22) at a hall here last night, injuring her and also shot at her younger sister Diksha who came to her rescue, said SP (City) Ajay Sahni.
The youth, a classmate of Vandana, was in love with her and when he got to know that her marriage was arranged with someone else in Mathura, he decided to kill her, Sahni said.
Both Vandana and Diksha were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared dead.
Those present at the spot overpowered Aditya and lynched him, Sahni said adding nobody has come out from the deceased's end to lodge a police report.
