A 28-year-old youth was shot dead allegedly by three motorcycle-borne unknown assailants at Kapur company chowk area here.

Pushpendra Yadav, who was preparing for civil services examination, was shot dead yesterday when he was returning home from his coaching centre, police said today.

He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

Yadav, a resident of Govindnagar, was working as a computer operator of Social Welfare Department here since past six years but he quit the job last year over disputes with colleagues on corruption related matters, they said.

Five persons, including two from Social Welfare department identified as Mukut and Chunni, have been named in the FIR registered in this connection, police said.

"The cause of murder would be found out after the interrogation of the accused," ASP Sujata Singh said.

We have sent police teams at different places to arrest the accused, she added.

Yadav's father Anandpal alleged that the social welfare department asked his son not to disclose anything on corruption related matters, following which Pushpendra quit his job.
