A youth was allegedly stabbed by the relatives of a woman he was in a relationship with, police said today.
According to police, the victim, identified as Sujit, is battling for his life at Safdarjung Hospital after he was stabbed multiple times by the woman's three brothers and a friend in Trilokpuri area of east Delhi yesterday. Two people have been arrested in the case so far.
"The girl's family was opposing Sujit's relationship with her. They had earlier threatened him with dire consequences if he continues the relationship. The couple, however, continued to be in contact which was noticed by the woman's family on Friday," said a police official.
The woman's brothers then decided to seek revenge and asked a friend to call Sujit to an isolated area where he was then stabbed multiple times.
A passerby heard Sujit shouting for help and informed police. He was taken to nearby Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital.
One of the woman's brothers has been held along with a friend while efforts are on to apprehend the remaining two brothers.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered in connection with the incident, the official said.
