Deepak Yadav, a BBA student in a local private college, was taken by one of his friends on Monday to Panki Mandir where the three other accused met them. The four had a plan to abduct Deepak and demand ransom from his family, police said.

However, when Deepak sensed foul play and protested, his friends allegedly stabbed him to death and dumped his body in the bushes.

When Deepak's father, Ram Awadh Yadav, who is president of Kushinagar district unit of SP, came to the city on Tuesday looking for his son he lodged a missing report following which the accused were traced.

Three of them-- Nishit Chaudhary, Akhilesh and Jeetu -- were apprehended and they led the police to the victim's body last night.

The fourth accused, Dilip Anand, is absconding, police added.
