A youth and a teenager were arrested for allegedly killing a 23-year-old woman in Outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area.

The incident took place on August 20 when the woman, working with an NGO in west Delhi's Rajouri Garden, was returning home, police said today.

The accused - Sidharth, 22, and the juvenile, both residents of Bhagya Vihar - were apprehended yesterday.

DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh said that the duo, in an inebriated state, intercepted the woman and tried to rob her.

Sidharth then grabbed the woman by her neck following which she died. However, assuming that she became unconscious, they raped her and dumped the body at a vacant plot in Bhagya Vihar locality, he said.

The accused then fled with the victim's clothes, her SIM card and cash in her wallet.

The victim's family and locals later found the body and the matter was reported to the police immediately.

Locals then blocked roads in the area protesting against police 'inaction'.

The accused also took part in the protest, the DCP said.

Sidharth, who worked as a salesman at a shop in Rohini sub-city, was earlier arrested in January for allegedly raping a minor girl and was out on bail.

A police team was formed to investigate the case and the accused were tracked down with the help of local intelligence, Singh said.
