The man, who was standing near his house in Arivolinagar on the outskirts, was trampled to death by the elephant, which appeared from a bushy area last night, police said.

On coming to know about the incident, more than 200 residents in the area staged a road roko affecting vehicular traffic for nearly one hour, police said.
