A youth who had accompanied policemen in patrolling in his private vehicle was found dead in Kachla area of the district with family members alleging a foul play.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Kumar Singh today said that Kachla police outpost in-charge Ashok Yadav along with two personnel left for patrolling in Harveer Yadav's private vehicle last night.

According to Singh, at around 12.00 mid night, some miscreants opened fire at the car in which they were travelling near Karua bridge, the SSP said. In the attack Harveer was hit by a bullet and the vehicle overturned, the SSP said quoting the outpost in-charge.

Singh said that Harveer was taken to the district hospital where he died.

However, the irate family members and mob, while denying the police theory, set the outpost on fire. They also burnt a jeep along with four-five motorcycles and later, the agitated mob kept the body on road and blocked Agra-Bareilly national highway, the SSP said.

Harveer's father Aram Singh alleged that the youth was first assaulted by Singh and two personnel and was later shot dead. He said that police was "framing the story of firing and vehicle getting overturned."

To support his point, he said "if it would have been the case the policemen should have also sustained injuries, but they escaped unscathed", adding a murder case should be lodged against the policemen and they be arrested.

The SSP said that senior officers have reached the spot and the road-block was lifted on the condition that a case would be lodged on the basis of the complaint.
