Four youths in an inebriated condition damaged a bus and beat up its driver, helper and owner at Gajan bazar in Hanskhali area of Nadia district today, police said.
The four youths came out of a bar with bottles in their hand at Gajan Bazar area and stopped a bus. They beat up the driver and helper of the bus. When the bus owner reached the spot with her relatives, she was also beaten up, the police said.
After the incident the local people blocked the Bagula to Nonagang road at Gajan demanding the bar be closed.
Superintendent of Police, Nadia, Shees Ram Jhajharia said one person was arrested following the Hanskhali incident.
Regarding the demand of the local people to close down the bar, the SP said "We also will inform the concerned authority to look into the matter.
