A minor accident led to a clash between the police and a group of youths in southwest Delhi's Dwarka Sector 12 today.

A police van was also damaged in the clash.

According to the police, the incident was reported around 9 PM near a traffic intersection at Dwarka Sector 12 where a car brushed past a motorbike, leading to a violent scuffle between the three occupants of the car and the two occupants of the motorbike, said a police official.

One of the car occupants was injured in the fight.

Meanwhile, locals called up the police control room and a police team reached the spot, said a police official.

The police was about to take the injured man to a hospital when the bike-borne duo allegedly started fighting with the cops, alleging that they were trying to protect the car occupants, said the official.

Soon, one of the youths called up his friends and a few more bike-borne youths rushed to the spot, which ensued into a full fledged violent attack on the PCR team, who had to call for reinforcement from the local police station to bring the situation under control.

The PCR van sustained damages during the incident, said the official.

The police later registered an FIR under IPC Sections 427 (mischief causing damage), 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant to do his duty) and 186 (obstructing public servant in doing his duty) and detained the biker youths and a few of their associates, the official added.
