Two youths have been arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap a newly married woman from her in-law's house in Garipur village in the Odisha's Jajpur district, police said today.
The duo,arrested yesterday were identified as Kanha Behera (26) of Junagarh in Kalahandi district and Madhusudan Majhi (25), driver of a SUV used in the crime, said J K Das, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jajpur Road.
Police have also seized the SUV, a knife and two mobile phones from their possession, he said.

Later, the accused duo asked his daughter-in-law over telephone to come to them. Babhi's daughter-in-law who had come to his house just a couple of months after her marriage to the former's son, came out of her in-law house on some pretext, it said.
"The accused then forcibly took her in their SUV and sped away from the village. Seeing the vehicle's speed, some villagers chased the SUV on motorcycles and intercepted it near Kuakhia bazar," the FIR claimed.
They overpowered the accused and rescued the woman from their clutches and handed over to her in-laws. Later, they caught hold of the duo and informed the local police.
Police reached the spot and arrested the youths and also seized the vehicle, two mobile phones and a knife used in the crime.
Police suspect love affair behind the reason of the kidnapping, the SDPO said adding the matter was under investigation and police were examining all aspects. A case has been registered.
