Naveen and Dharmender Kumar, both aged 35 years, were apprehended from Sultanpuri on September one on a tip-off, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.

"We received an input that Naveen used to supply heroin to drug peddlers in Delhi and it was being supplied by one Ashfaq. We also came to know that he had gone to Moradabad to receive heroin which he would supply to Dharmender. A trap was laid and both were arrested," Jain said.

Naveen told the police that he came to Delhi in 1996 and took admission in a Diploma Course in X- Ray and Pathology in a private Institute. After completion of the course, he took job in various hospitals but he was not satisfied with the small salaries.

"He quit the job and later fell in bad company and started consuming smack. To fulfill his daily requirement, he used to procure smack from small drug peddlers and then used to sell it to other addicts," Jain said.

In 2007, he was arrested and convicted in the case. After coming out of jail, he allegedly started trafficking of heroin in huge quantity.

Kumar told the police that he could not continue with his studies due to financial constraints and started selling illicit liquor.

He had previously been arrested in 13 cases under the Excise Act.

Raids have been conduced in Bareilly to apprehend Ashfaq who had supplied the heroin to Naveen.
