Around 5,000 youths today took a pledge to spread awareness on the use of condoms at an event here on the occasion of International Condom Day (ICD).

As many as 64,000 free condoms were distributed among the people present at the event held at the Central Park, organised by AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization operating in 35 countries.

"The urban youth forms one of the emerging groups at-risk of various sexually transmitted infections including HIV and it is essential that there is awareness as well as access to condoms - the most affordable prevention available," Nochiketa Mohanty, Country Program Manager, AHF India, said.

"We will unveil the 2016 International Condom Day song and video, 'Wrap Up Your Love,' our parody of Justin Bieber's hit "What Do You Mean?" to bring renewed attention to the importance of safer sex and condom usage," AHF President Michael Weinstein said.
