As many as 25 protesters representing a Sikh group, who were allegedly marching towards Rashtrapati Bhavan protesting against Congress's 'Intolerance March', were detained today.
"The protesters, who were approaching from Rafi Marg, were detained near Vijay Chowk around 30 minutes before the Congress march began," said DCP (New Delhi) Jatin Narwal, adding that 25 protesters were detained.
The detention took place on the basis of prohibitory orders implemented in the concerned area, under which any assembly exceeding ten persons can be considered unlawful, said a senior police officer.
The protesters, mostly youths, demanded justice for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi, said police, adding that no force was used to bring the situation under control.
