YSR Congress Party honorary president Y S Vijayamma urged both the Union Government and the Andhra Pradesh government to waive off all agricultural loans in the flood-affected areas.

Interacting with farmers in flood-hit villagers in Krishna district on Sunday, she said that the government should immediately provide Rs 10,000 as compensation per every acre of crop damage and also initiate measures to purchase paddy, maize and cotton through the Food Corporation of India and Cotton Corporation of India to protect the interests of farmers.

She demanded that the government must supply seeds and fertilisers at subsidised prices for a second crop in flood affected areas.

She promised the farming community that a discussion on all issues of farmers in flood affected areas would be initiated by the YSRCP during the next assembly session.
