"The government should implement the scheme, launched by late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, for the benefit of all eligible students of professional courses like engineering," she demanded.
The YSRCP would stand by the students who are beneficiaries of the scheme, asserted Vijaya Lakshmi, the widow of former Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy.
Meanwhile, Social Welfare Minister B Saraiah alleged in Hyderabad that the YSRCP leader's protest is only aimed at gaining political mileage.
A controversy arose when the government sought to put a cap on fees reimbursement. Opposition parties and student groups have voiced protest over the proposal.
